Bala is a veteran leader operating at the intersection of innovation and technology. Prior to joining AKF, he led global teams at UPS spanning advanced technologies, logistics operational technology and technology support groups maintaining infrastructure on the edge. He was responsible for operational technology at UPS including planning, optimization and execution systems in final mile and ground & air network systems. He also led the global technology support group that was responsible for deploying improvements, periodic maintenance, and incident management teams in 5,000+ operational facilities across the world. He was also responsible for shaping future-focused technology strategy including autonomous ground vehicles, unmanned aerial systems, robotics, sensors & IoT and advanced AI and optimization algorithms.  Previous to this role, Bala led teams at UPS in advanced analytics & revenue management and global e-commerce strategy.

Prior to UPS, Bala had stints at McKinsey & Co., Georgia Institute of Technology and the Indian Air Force.

He graduated with a PhD in Aerospace Engineering, an MBA and a MS in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
